This time of the year, one question is on everyone's mind: What laptop should I buy? I get this question a lot on my radio show and in my email inbox. One thing that always surprises me is the budget that people set. Many people wonder if $600 or $700 is enough to buy a decent laptop that will last a few years. That's actually enough to buy a great mid-range Windows laptop. It's almost enough to buy a MacBook! Of course, "mid-range" isn't what it sounds like anymore. The mid-range laptop of today is more than most people really need. You can buy a solid laptop for less than $400. It might not be state-of-the-art, but it will give you years of quality performance. That doesn't mean every "cheap" laptop is worth buying, of course. There are plenty of low-priced laptops that work better as doorstops. How can you tell the difference?
