Roller Coasters

From Arthur Levine, your Guide to Theme Parks
The legendary Thunderbolt at Coney Island gave its last ride in 1982. But coaster fans will be able to ride its rails once again -- sorta -- in 2014.

Lightning to Strike Twice at Coney Island
The circa-1925 Thunderbolt was right up there with the Cyclone in popularity, and the two wooden coasters survived the Brooklyn amusement area's long, sad demise -- until 1982, when the Thunderbolt gave its last ride. The neglected structure was demolished in 2000. (The Cyclone continues to thrill riders today.) But the Thunderbolt is set to return to the People's Playground in 2014, or at least a 20th-century facsimile of it. See what ride designers have in store for the reborn ride in my preview of the new Thunderbolt coaster coming to Coney Island.

Hershey Opens One-of-a-Kind 4D Experience, Bar None
Talking candy bars are the stars of an ambitious new interactive 4D show at the visitor center just outside of Hersheypark. I don't know about you, but I'm kinda glad that candy bars don't really talk. That's just weird.

Another High Roller Coming to Vegas?
A highly unique -- and just plain high (the tallest in the world, actually) -- coaster may be on its way to Las Vegas. Read about the Polercoaster. Some free advice for the designers: Since this is Vegas, how about adorning the tower with a giant neon pole dancer? You're welcome.
