Pakistan extends support to Afghan reconciliation process

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Thursday said that it has extended all possible assistance to promote reconciliation process in Afghanistan.

Addressing a weekly press briefing here, Foreign Office Spokesman Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry said that Pakistan fully supports the Afghan reconciliation process, adding that all groups to the issue should be involved in the process.

He said Pakistan also supports US-Taliban negotiations to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.

On drone attacks, the spokesman categorically said that the attacks carried out by unmanned aircrafts are violation of its territorial sovereignty.

Pakistan has taken the issue of drone attacks with United States at all levels and will continue its strides to stop them, he added.

On the issue of Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline, Aizaz said it will be implemented at all cost to overcome the energy crisis in the country.

Regarding the visit of US Secretary of John Kerry to Pakistan, he said it has been postponed not cancelled and new date of visit will be announced soon.
