From Marie Iannotti, your Guide to Gardening

June is when I start to realize that it's now or never. If I don't get things planted soon they could remain in pots all summer. There are a lot of chores demanding our attention, so here's your June Regional To Do List, to help keep you on track.

One more thing to add to the list - Vote! Above are the finalists in our Spring Flowers Photo Challenge. Take a look through the photo gallery and then vote for your favorite. Winners will be announced June 15th, so don't delay.

Gardening Tip of the Week

Rocks Everywhere - Make Plant Markers: I live in Arizona, a state with lots of sand and rocks. Rocks are the bane of most gardeners, but I have put them to use as decorative plant markers in my garden. I plant my flower or shrub, go to my bucket of suitable rocks, select one and write the name of the plant with a permanent marker. I then place it in front of the plant. I put in many different plants and this way I can remember what I planted and it makes the bed look natural. Cost saving and decorative. --Submitted by Christine

Thank you to everyone who has shared a tip. Keep them coming!

Once again our June Photo Challenge is Roses. This is always one of our most popular challenges and I'm looking forward to seeing the rose blossoms blooming in your yard.
