| | When on a cruise, I love visiting exotic places that I don't know much about. It's such a great sampler to stay somewhere for only a day, knowing that you can choose to return later for a longer stay (or not). This week's newsletter focuses on some of the memorable places I've sailed to, all of which were practically unknown to me. I'm glad I had a chance to see them all. | | Temple of Kom Ombo and the Crocodile Museum While sailing the Nile River on the Uniworld River Tosca, we stopped in the town of Kom Ombo, which features a temple dedicated to two gods, plus has a crocodile museum. | Moeraki Boulders Scenic Reserve in New Zealand The Moeraki Boulders Scenic Reserve is a group of huge spherical rocks (up to a circumference of 13 feet) on a desolate beach. These perfectly round boulders were formed by some sort of geologic event that resulted in the inside of the rocks being like a honeycomb and the exterior being round. | Molde in the Norwegian Fjords Many cruise ships stopover at Bergen, Geiranger, Alesund, or Flam. How many of you have been to Molde? It's a quaint little town, with many less visitors, but still the charm. | Puerto Montt, Chile Do you love volcanoes? Puerto Montt is in the volcano district of Chile, and you'll see perfectly shaped ones like this one.
