Ebook Spending on the Rise In 2012 ebooks accounted for 11% of all book spending, according to a recap in Publishers Weekly of Bowker's findings on consumer book-buying trends. That's up from just 7% in 2011. In units, ebooks comprised 22% of last year's sales.
A recent U.K. report, The Publishers Association Statistics Yearbook, mirrors this finding. The yearbook shows that 12% of book sales in those countries were digital.
Consumer behavior is increasingly steadier when it comes to ebooks. "The ebook market is maturing and becoming more predictable," said Len Vlahos of BISG at the 2013 Digital Book World Conference + Expo.
And for now, growth continues. |
