Flag Officer Assignments

            The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert announced today the following assignments: 

            Rear Adm. Robert P. Girrier will be assigned as deputy and chief of staff, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Girrier is currently serving as director for operations, J3, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.  

            Rear Adm. James D. Cloyd will be assigned as director, maritime operations (N3/N5/N2/N7), U.S. Fleet Forces, Norfolk, Va.  Cloyd is currently serving as commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Japan/commander, Navy Region Japan, Yokosuka, Japan.  

            Capt. Louis V. Cariello, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command/deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Pacific, Norfolk, Va.  Cariello previously served as commanding officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia, Naples, Italy.  

            Capt. Thomas J. Kearney, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as vice commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.  Kearney is currently serving as program executive office (submarines)/SEA 07 Special Projects, Washington, D.C. 

            Capt. Timothy J. White, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy chief, tailored access operations, S32, National Security Agency, Fort George G. Meade, Md.  White is currently serving as commanding officer, Naval Intelligence Operations Center Maryland, Fort George G. Meade, Md.
