| | I always want to lend advice to anyone who is going to Las Vegas. It's what I do for a living. I experience everything and then I tell people about it. I tell a lot of people. So this week I'm telling you about four things that I really enjoy and I'm sure you will to. | | Painting With Dolphins In Las Vegas Spend a few minutes within close proximity to a dolphin and you fall in love. They glide through the water. They look right at you. They make distinct sounds as if attempting to communicate with you. They seem to recognize you even though you've never met. I may be a bit too enamored with this graceful mammal however there is no denying that people have a connection with dolphins. Dolphins are easy to like. Therefore it should come as no surprise that in Las Vegas not only can you see a dolphin habitat but you can also interact with them at the Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. Recently, I had the opportunity to interact with the dolphins as they painted a canvas at waters edge. This program is meant to help the visitor directly engage with a dolphin while also getting a real education in everything dolphin. While many would not agree with this practice I can tell you first hand that the awareness that is raised by allowing people to see the dolphins up close is invaluable. The experience, for me, was on a new level. Painting with the dolphins at the Mirage is available by reservation at 12pm and 3:30pm daily. The Mirage also offers an opportunity to be a dolphin trainer for the day as well as Yoga Among the Dolphins. Both experiences are pretty remarkable and you leave with long lasting memories. | Go Off Road With Las Vegas Rock Crawlers In case you have never seen it, Jeeps can scale sheer rock cliffs. When I jumped into one of the Las Vegas Rock Crawlers' Jeep for my off road experience I didn't believe it but no sooner than I had started the engine and placed the Jeep in drive I was on a rock with rubber to sandstone and my heart in my throat. The scenery in the Southern Nevada desert captivated my attention right up until I heard the engine rev and then it was all rock, sand, grit and sweat after that. A few hours of stress relief by way of enhanced focus and some very technical driving...Read more When you plan your vacation you'll notice that there are plenty of things to do in Las Vegas but way too many options to make an easy decision. I can help, I've done it all and I help you separate the good from the bad. | Banana Pancakes at Citizens at Mandalay Bay Macadamia nuts remind me of being young and wasting time in Honolulu. Sweet creme, macadamia nuts and banana pancakes remind me of Maui. Well, then why am I telling you about them right now? If you walk into Citizens at Mandalay Bay for breakfast they have some banana pancakes that are as close to a getaway to Hawaii as you can get. You won't get a view of Molokai in the distance and they won't come with a side of Portuguese sausage but you will get a huge breakfast and a tiny dose of that island flavor. If you stick around long enough you can also add in a few of their meatballs or maybe even a sandwich or two. Citizens is the Mandalay Bay Resort's answer to the 24 hour cafe and they do a decent job of making sure you crave a little something deep in to the evening. Step in after a night at the club and share their French dip or just hover over an order of their loaded potato. It is not for the person who is watching their calories but if there was ever a reason to disregard the diet it is this simple side that packs so much buttery love. Breakfast is the draw for me. Make sure to consider splitting a meal as it seems to me that prices are a bit on the high side but the portions are ample. If you need a few more suggestions for breakfast in Las Vegas make sure to see a few more of my suggestions. I love Bouchon at Venetian and Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace and Hash House A Go GO are perfect for those trips when the kids are with me. | Sushi at Shibuya Japanese food has a special place in my heart. I crave it. I crave fresh fish. I crave fresh wasabi. I crave sushi. I crave Sake. Yes, I have some real issues with wanting too much all the time. My problem is that I might be a little too promiscuous. A few weeks ago I was so excited about Nobu at Caesars Palace that I stopped in 3 times in one week. I could not get enough of the lounge or the sushi. Before that I was ranting and raving about Testu at Aria Resort. You would have thought that they had me on the payroll the way I would go on about how much fun I had there. Well...here I go again. My new favorite, although, really, how long will it last? Shibuya at MGM Grand Las Vegas. I had a remarkable time there recently. So, I thought maybe it was the fact that I spent a fun meal with a friend and we laughed about dumb things and shared some exciting and intriguing food. New menu, new chef, good atmosphere. Was it a fluke? Well, I went in alone. I went in right when the restaurant opened. It was not super busy so the atmosphere was a bit different. The food was still remarkable and memorable. Just like that I fell in love with a different Japanese restaurant and if you know me you have already heard about it. Two strangers in the elevator after my meal heard about it. My wife had to hear about it yet I failed to take her in to try anything. I'm a sucker for a good meal and I'm always looking for my next favorite spot. So, even though I'm excited about this today you know I'm eating my way around town at this very moment looking for the greener grass. | | | | Related Searches | | | | Featured Articles | | | | | | Sign up for more free newsletters on your favorite topics | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to the About.com Las Vegas Travel newsletter.
