Flag Officer Assignments

            The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert announced today the following assignments:

             Rear Adm. Bradley R. Gehrke will be assigned as director, Maritime Headquarters, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.  Gehrke is currently serving as director for operations, Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C.

             Rear Adm. Dixon R. Smith will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Mid Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.  Smith is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Southwest, San Diego, Calif.

             Rear Adm. Robert P. Girrier will be assigned as deputy and chief of staff, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Girrier is currently serving as director for operations, J3, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

             Rear Adm. James D. Cloyd will be assigned as director, maritime operations (N3/N5/N2/N7), U.S. Fleet Forces, Norfolk, Va.  Cloyd is currently serving as commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Japan/commander, Navy Region Japan, Yokosuka, Japan.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Herman A. Shelanski, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as director, Assessment Division, N81, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  Shelanski is currently serving as special assistant to the vice chief of naval operations, Washington, D.C.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) James G. Foggo III, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as assistant deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans, and strategy, N3/5B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  Foggo is currently serving as director, Assessment Division, N81, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Patrick J. Lorge, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Southwest, San Diego, Calif.  Lorge is currently serving as commandant, Naval District Washington, Washington, D.C.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Sean S. Buck, will be assigned as director, 21st Century Sailor Office, N17, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  Buck is currently serving as commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Group, Norfolk, Va.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Markham K. Rich, will be assigned as commandant, Naval District Washington, Washington, D.C.  Rich is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Northwest, Silverdale, Wash.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Richard P. Snyder, will be assigned as commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Two, Virginia Beach, Va.  Snyder is currently serving as deputy director, joint strategic planning, J5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Diane E. H. Webber, will be assigned as commander, Navy Cyber Forces/director for communications and information systems, N6, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Virginia Beach, Va.  Webber is currently serving as deputy commander, Fleet Cyber Command / deputy commander, Tenth Fleet, Fort Meade, Md.

             Capt. Babette Bolivar, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Northwest, Silverdale, Wash.  Bolivar is currently serving as chief of staff, Naval Installations Command, Washington, D.C.

             Capt. Randy B. Crites, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy chief of staff for plans, policies and requirements, N5/N8, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Crites is currently serving as branch head, Operations and Analysis Directorate, N80, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

             Capt. Marcus A. Hitchcock, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as director, fleet and joint training, N7, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.  Hitchcock is currently serving as commanding officer, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), Norfolk, Va.

             Capt. Brian E. Luther, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as director, operations and plans, N31, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  Luther is currently serving as commanding officer, the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), Norfolk, Va.

             Capt. Christopher J. Murray, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as assistant chief of staff, operations, J3, Joint Forces Command, Naples, Italy.  Murray is currently serving as special assistant, Air Warfare Division, Office of the Secretary of Defense, director, Operational Test and Evaluation, Washington, D.C.

             Capt. Richard L. Williams Jr., who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Hawaii/commander, Naval Surface Group, Middle Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Williams is currently serving as branch head, assessments, N73, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

             Capt. Louis V. Cariello, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command/deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Pacific, Norfolk, Va.  Cariello previously served as commanding officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia, Naples, Italy. 

             Capt. Thomas J. Kearney, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as vice commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.  Kearney is currently serving as special projects, Program Executive Office (Submarines)/deputy commander, Undersea Warfare (NAVSEA 07), Washington, D.C.

             Capt. Timothy J. White, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy chief, tailored access operations, S32, National Security Agency, Fort George G. Meade, Md.  White is currently serving as commanding officer, Naval Intelligence Operations Center Maryland, Fort George G. Meade, Md.
